The abundant sunshine in Spain provides a significant advantage for diversifying energy sources. As part of building a sustainable future, a 106 kW hot water absorption chiller with solar vacuum collectors and PV cells was installed for an eco-friendly office in Madrid, Spain.
During the summer months, the solar vacuum collector provides 90°C hot water for the absorption chiller, which produces cooling for the office building using the underfloor cooling-heating system. In winter, hot water from the solar vacuum collector is used for heating. A supplementary hot water boiler is always on standby for adverse weather conditions.
This truly self-sustained solar cooling powered Eco-Building has been using an absorption chiller with solar energy since 2003.
